Tom Devine and Mick Rennich were the finalists for Miss Congeniality 2009 today at Thorncreek. Devine was the early favorite, by presenting hospitality gifts to all contestants--a very impressive, useful picnic basket. But Rennich moved up quickly, picking up the greens fee tab for all contestants, and presenting 50 golf balls to each of the contestants. People who know Mick well will be surprised by this win, but buying Miss C. enjoys a long and rich tradition.
In the aftermath of the Miss California controversy this year, it was decided that we should designate a First Alternate Miss Congeniality, and Devine easily won this distinction. Should Rennich be unable, for any reason, to discharge his obligation as Miss C before the next get-together, Devine will be called upon to serve.
